Adventurous Day Before Couples Session . Peyto Lake-Banff, AB
We had woken up around 4am in Calgary, about 2 hours outside of Banff National Park. We then spent the next two hours driving through the mountains, with only fog and pines trees to our sight. The mountains were covered in fog and that the sun decided to take it’s own sweet time rising and barely got any true morning light till almost 8:30-9am! Just looking back on that morning makes me want to drift off to sleep. Though, I wouldn’t have traded in that morning for anything else. Minus the heavy fog and winter temperatures that morning was truly EVERYTHING. I had never ever experienced anything like a destination session like this before, let along out in the middle of Canada’s most beautiful national parks. My heart was eager, yet mellow all at the same time. I like to believe it was the mountains and the Christmas morning like snow falling down upon us, but really it was EVERYTHING. The mountains, snow, pines trees, the crystal blue lake and the park were everything I could have ever dreamed of a perfect morning to take photos.
Maggie and Ben were unlike any other couple I have photographed. They had literally packed almost their entire house/life into one truck + their two beloved dogs, Bam-Bam and Maddie!! I knew right from the get-go that these two were going to one heck of an amazing weekend to photograph and adventure with …and indeed they were. We started off taking photos at Peyto Lake. Less than a mile hike we took advantage of the remaining snow fall that was still coming down. We then headed over to Bow Lake, about less than a 5 minute drive back down from Peyto. Coming into Bow lake was like walking into an enchanted children’s story. At least that’s what I thought of it! ;)
The mountains at Bow Lake were more than just a real life formation, but a true glimpse of unspoken wonder that only our true Creator, Jesus Christ himself could ever describe more perfectly than any other human being. Oh how, my heart beats at the sight of this place and the endless beauty surrounding everything else. Who wants to elope to the Banff?!!
